Feature work

When travel 3Sixty, AirAsia’s in-flight travel magazine, needed a suggestion for a feature article, I pitched this story, confident that the magazine had not covered this sport throughout its eight-year run. What resulted was an assignment full of adventure and, of course, this story.

Working on this story

Flying to India solely on the trust of a local fixer was risky, but I figured I’d find the gyms on my own if the plans fell through. With a photographer in tow, we made our way to the given location before dawn and caught some of the wrestler’s already warming up.

Thankfully, our fixer arrived to translate and show us around, and from then on, it was just a matter of taking off my clothes and joining in the fun.

Also, feel free to browse my other full-length features I’ve written as well.
